All material is hand selected and sustainably collected.
Sourced directly from nature, each piece has its own special feel. The wood, wild turkey feather, antler, and seashell were once part of an uncaged living creature and that energy can still be felt today. All material was respectfully harvested with gratitude and then smudged to purify.
Throughout geographic regions all over the world, many traditional people who lived close to the land believed connecting with specific animals or natural elements was a way to draw in their energy.
feathers
Feathers, associated with the element of air, are believed to lift-up messages to the creator and prayers to the heavens. The Turkey connects us with the Earth and the abundance it provides. It reminds us of the importance of the whole, of giving and sharing with others. It is a symbol of abundance, prosperity, generosity, gratitude and family. Turkey provide a connection with the spirit of the land, with Mother Earth.
No store bought feathers are used, only feathers collected from uncaged birds.
antler
Deer shed their antlers naturally each year, letting go of the old and allowing for the new to grow. Deer symbolize tenderness tempered with strength, as well as awareness, kindness, grace and stamina. The deer's antlers are often synonymous with growth, fertility, and prosperity, embodying the qualities of leadership and regeneration.
Finding shed antlers is rare and I do not buy them from others. I collect only those naturally given and found, so antler fans are made in limited amounts.
wood
Trees are a vital part of nature and the earth’s ecosystem. They sustain life on earth by creating food, shade and the oxygen we breathe. Trees have deep strong grounding roots and also represent life and growth . They are symbolic with vitality, wisdom, strength, balance and flexibility.
shells
Shells connect us to the element of water and to the sea, which is symbolic of power, strength, and rhythmic peace of the tides which ebb and flow to clear the sand and shore. Shells provide shelter and their hard exterior protects the inhabitant from harm and danger. They are symbolic of resiliency, beauty and stability.
Committed to the authentic look and feel of each piece, no store bought shells are used in my art. Each shell is hand collected by myself from non-protected coastal areas.
leather
Leather is a protective barrior between the inner and outer worlds. It is symbol of protection and strength.
Only authentic leather is used. Most of my leather is scrap material from a local family-owned company that handcrafts small batches of leather sandals and shoes in my area.
sagebrush
Collected from the high desert on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, my sage bundles are never sold but are often gifted.
All over the world and for thousands of years, the smoke of sacred plants have been used to cleanse and bless, or to remove negative energy.
Different types of purifying plants are found throughout, so please research ones that sustainably grow in your area and harvest with respect. Always use caution when smudging or burning dry plants.
